DALLAS CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER (DCAC)
The mission of the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. The only agency of its kind in Dallas County, DCAC reduces the re-victimization of the child, removes barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhances criminal prosecution with its distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to child abuse cases. DCAC works in agreement with public and private agencies including Dallas law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney’s Office, and Children’s Medical Center (REACH Clinic) to improve child abuse cases in Dallas County.
DSF members assist DCAC by serving as room monitors at the annual Crimes Against Children Conference, providing salad and dessert to accompany dinner every Tuesday for counseling clients, providing birthday bags for child victims of crime and assisting with the DCAC Holiday of Hope.
THE EBBY HOUSE |
The Ebby House at Juliette Fowler Communities is more than a shelter. It is a home for young women who have suffered abuse or neglect or who have been in foster care. These women need additional assistance before they are are ready to launch into successful adulthood. This strength-based program mentors up to 12 young women at a time for up to 24 months to instill life skills, provide housing, healthcare, education, career guidance, job training, and skills to live independently. The house is under the supervision of the Program Director and a full-time live-in House Manager. The DSF volunteers recognize the importance of creating a family-oriented atmosphere for the young women of Ebby House. Twice a month, our volunteers provide delicious home-cooked meals for the girls to enjoy. DSF volunteers also assist with holiday parties, and throw launch parties for program graduates. |

THE FAMILY PLACE
The Family Place, Dallas’ largest domestic violence agency serving 12,000 clients annually, is the only organization that addresses each area in the cycle of domestic violence. The Family Place offers free comprehensive services in both Spanish and English for all victims trying to escape the cycle of family violence. We provide everything victims need to be safe—a hotline, safe housing, legal help, supervised visitation, counseling for victims and abusers, and community education—to empower them to become survivors.
DSF volunteers assist with intake, tagging items and stocking the floor at the Family Place Resale Shop and hold “Stuff the Truck” events to fill a truck with clothing and household goods for Family Place clients and the Resale Shop.
HOPE’S DOOR NEW BEGINNING CENTER |
Hope’s Door New Beginning Center is a full-service shelter and counseling center that offers comprehensive programs designed to help break the cycle of domestic abuse. It provides direct intervention and prevention services free of charge to families affected by domestic violence in Collin County and surrounding areas. Programs and services include an emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline, individual and group counseling, and community education programs. DSF volunteers provide over 100 meals monthly for the women and children fleeing domestic violence, as well providing welcome bags with essential grooming items for new clients. |

JULIETTE FOWLER COMMUNITIESJuliette Fowler Communities operates three residential programs which provide a home and special services for more than 350 residents including retirement, assisted living, and long term and skilled nursing. They also serve children in North Texas who need short term or long-term placement outside of their families. DSF Bingo Bages provide friendship and fun for the residents with monthly Bingo parties. DSF Provisionals throw an annual Christmas party for residents. |
NETWORK of Community MinistriesNETWORK is a community service organization that primarily assists residents within the Richardson Independent School District who are in crisis. NETWORK helps with temporary shelter, rent, utilities, food, clothing, counseling, medical care, and financial assistance. It provides much needed short-term assistance with the goal of helping individuals and families achieve long-term independence. Founded in 1985, NETWORK is a non-denominational organization with three main divisions:

RONALD McDONALD HOUSE of DALLAS (RMHD)The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas is the only organization that provides a temporary home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving treatment for a serious illness or injury at a Dallas area hospital. In an effort to lessen the burden, reduce stress, keep the family intact, and enhance the quality of life for these families, the RMHD provides affordable housing in a caring home-like atmosphere. DSF prepares over 350 meals each month for the residents of the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas Additionally, DSF volunteers assist with RMHD’s largest annual fundraising event, The Trains at NorthPark, as well as supporting various special events. |
DSF ADJUNCT AGENCIES | |
| Dallas Service Forum is pleased to have the opportunity to support many agencies on an ad hoc basis by providing volunteer assistance for special projects. The agencies below are among those we have supported with activities ranging from chaperoning preschoolers visiting the Dallas Arboretum, to decorating clinic space for the holidays, to providing Registration and Hospitality volunteers to support these agencies’ fundraising events. |
FRISCO FAMILY SERVICES (FFS)
Frisco Family Services provides social services to families and individuals in need and assists them in becoming productive members of the Frisco community. Programs and services include food distribution, information and referral, emergency financial assistance, adult life skills workshops, special programs and the Frisco Resale Shop.
DSF members assist FFS by volunteering at their food pantry and Frisco Resale Shop as well as providing volunteer support throughout the year for special projects and annual fundraisers, including both an annual gala and golf.
